The Board of Peace lead envoy for Gaza says Israel is not expected to withdraw from the strip until Hamas’s disarmament is “verified”.

– Nickolay Mladenov was speaking in an interview with Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 after Netanyahu’s rejection of Trump’s 15-point plan.

Decommissioning and weapons certification will happen gradually and Israel will only be required to progressively withdraw after each phase, he said.

– The envoy stressed that what is required of Israel now is that it doesn’t move further inside Gaza, beyond the so-called ‘Yellow Line’ – and that it stops killing civilians.

– “So we would like them to stay at those positions and to make sure that they do not shoot across at people unless they are a real threat to Israeli soldiers…,” he said.
