Had a brief yet meaningful meeting with the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during the plane’s stopover in Tashkent.
This meeting provided an opportunity for us to exchange views on efforts to strengthen the ever-growing bilateral relations across various strategic sectors, including trade, investment, education, halal industry, and tourism.
We also touched on the importance of deepening cooperation in preserving and promoting the treasures of Islamic civilization as well as the scholarly traditions that have produced great figures and contributed to the splendor of human civilization.
In the energy sector, we see vast potential to bolster cooperation, particularly in the gas and petroleum industries, which not only hold the promise of accelerating economic growth but also contribute to the agenda of energy security and sustainable development.
I also appreciate Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with ASEAN countries and its increasingly vital role in the Central Asian region.
Before continuing the flight to Kazan, I took the opportunity to wish the Uzbekistan National Team success as they prepare to kick off their campaign at the 2026 World Cup against Colombia.
May this friendship continue to be fortified, not merely for the sake of economic and trade benefits, but also to elevate human dignity, empower knowledge, and realize more equitable and inclusive development.
