Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will attend NATO’s summit in the Turkish capital Ankara in July, the alliance’s secretary general said Friday.
– “I invited him already,” Mark Rutte told reporters at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Sweden.
– “He will be there.”
– Rutte also declined to give details about possible US plans to shrink the pool of military capabilities it would have available to assist Europe in a major crisis.
– Rutte said the US contribution to NATO’s so-called force model was being discussed, as the US “cannot be everywhere at the same time,” but added he could not go into detail.
– “Of course, this is highly classified because we don’t want to make anyone any wiser, but this is a process in place, this is nothing new,” Rutte told reporters after a meeting of ministers from NATO countries in Sweden.
– “We know that the US has to think: if you have multiple threats, how can we make sure that all the capabilities and all the key enablers are everywhere where we need them.”
