Chinese FM Wang Yi met with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Asim Munir in Beijing.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. No matter how the international and regional situation changes, China-Pakistan friendship has always remained rock-solid and unbreakable.

Wang Yi met with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Munir

On May 25, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with Field Marshal Munir, Chief of the Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, in Beijing.

Wang Yi welcomed Field Marshal Munir and Prime Minister Shebaz’s joint visit to China, noting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. “A strong wind reveals the strength of the grass, and a raging fire reveals the true gold.” No matter how the international and regional situation changes, the friendship between China and Pakistan remains as solid as a rock and unbreakable. The two countries maintain a high level of political mutual trust, high-level pragmatic cooperation, and high-level international collaboration, setting a model for relations between countries. The Pakistani military has always been an important force in promoting China-Pakistan cooperation, and it is believed that it will make new contributions to deepening the traditional friendship between China and Pakistan and building a community with a shared future.

Munir stated that Pakistan is deeply proud of the enduring and ever-deepening ironclad friendship between China and Pakistan. In recent years, China’s international status and influence have risen steadily. President Xi Jinping’s four global initiatives and the Belt and Road Initiative have played a crucial role in promoting world peace and development, receiving widespread international acclaim. Pakistan firmly supports and actively participates in these initiatives. The Pakistani military will continue to fully support the building of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future and the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Munir briefed the mediators on the conflict between the US and Iran, stating that an agreement was nearing completion and that Pakistan was willing to continue its full efforts, hoping China would play a further role. Wang Yi stated that Pakistan was a qualified mediator worthy of trust from all parties, and that China appreciated and supported Pakistan’s efforts. Peace, though difficult, will eventually come.
