Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Deputy Secretary-General, met with Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi during her visit to Kabul.

– The two discussed coordination and engagement between the Islamic Emirate and the United Nations, as well as issues related to the Doha process.

– Mr. Muttaqi emphasized that the restrictions imposed on Afghan banks must be lifted and the country’s frozen central bank assets should be released.

– Ms. DiCarlo expressed the UN’s readiness to cooperate within the framework of the two working groups related to the Doha process and expressed hope for broader joint cooperation on other related issues.

– She also called for collaboration in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid by some UN agencies whose operations have been stalled outside Afghanistan, stressing that such assistance is vital for the Afghan people.
