United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says that the world has lived under the nuclear shadow for more than eight decades and that future generations must not.
– “Let’s replace threats with dialogue, arms racing with arms control, paralysis with concrete action, and choose a future free from nuclear weapons,” Guterres wrote in a post on X. The remarks did not refer to any particular conflict.
– Guterres has been the UN chief since January 1, 2017, and his decade-long mandate ends on December 31 this year, with a successor yet to be named.
