UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband has said Britain is “redoubling” diplomatic efforts to end the Iran war because of rising inflation in the country, in a video posted on X.

– “The cost of living crisis is the number one issue facing people in Britain,” Miliband said, adding that the government knows “the Iran war is driving up energy bills, food bills and inflation”.

– He said his job as the UK’s foreign secretary was to do everything he could “to bring an end to this conflict”, which had gone on “too long” and caused “too much damage” to people in Britain.

– “We cannot afford much more of it,” he said.

– Miliband said that was why he was in Istanbul – with foreign ministers from European and Middle Eastern states – to bring an end to the conflict “once and for all” to bring relief to families in Britain.
