Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has spoken to state-run media on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers meeting in Atlanta in the US state of Georgia.

– “The dispute between the US and Iran, which has led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, must be resolved as soon as possible so that these critical trade routes can be reopened,” he said.

– “There is a sense of anticipation and curiosity regarding how the ongoing discussions between the US and Iran will unfold and whether or not a new conflict might arise,” the diplomat said.

– He concluded: “Virtually all the countries at the table are in agreement that a renewed conflict should be avoided and diplomacy should consistently be given a chance.”
