Yesterday, I co-chaired the 14th Korea-Mekong Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
Korea and the five Mekong countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam) have held Foreign Ministers’ Meetings since 2011, and this year is a significant year marking the 15th anniversary of Korea-Mekong cooperation. To further strengthen the Korea-Mekong strategic partnership, we adopted the Co-Chairs’ Statement containing the future direction of Korea-Mekong cooperation.
In the future as well, we will continue to closely cooperate with the five Mekong countries for the sustainable growth and prosperity of all of Korea and the Mekong region.
On Thursday, I co-chaired the 14th Mekong-ROK Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Sihasak Phuangketkeow.
Korea and the five Mekong countries – Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam – have held the Foreign Ministers’ Meetings since 2011. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Mekong-ROK cooperation, and we adopted the Co-chairs’ Statement today outlining the future direction of the Mekong-ROK cooperation to further strengthen our Strategic Partnership.
I look forward to continuing close cooperation with the five Mekong countries, with the goal of achieving sustainable growth and prosperity for Korea and the Mekong region.
