Today, I had a meaningful meeting with Foreign Minister Sakiasi Ditoka of the Republic of Fiji during his visit to Seoul, where we deepened mutual understanding and exchanged views on advancing ROK-Fiji cooperation.
As we celebrate the 55th anniversary of our diplomatic ties, Minister Ditoka’s visit made this meeting particularly special, marking our first Foreign Ministers’ meeting in nearly a decade.
During our discussions, we shared concerns over heightened energy supply uncertainties in the region stemming from the conflict in the Middle East, and agreed to strengthen cooperation to maintain stable and resilient supply chains. We also engaged in a productive dialogue, exchanging perspectives on regional issues, including the Korean Peninsula and the Pacific.
I hope this meeting serves as a catalyst for more active communication between our two countries and further strengthens our partnership across various fields with Fiji, a key nation in the Pacific region.
