Earlier, I held another phone conversation with Iranian President Pezeshkian.

From my side, I conveyed my strong expectation that consultations between the United States and Iran will resume at an early date and reach a final agreement.

In addition, I informed him that we view the safe passage of one Japanese-related vessel carrying three Japanese crew members through the Strait of Hormuz as a positive development from the perspective of protecting our nationals.

Furthermore, I once again strongly urged that safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz be ensured as soon as possible for vessels from all countries, including Japan and other Asian nations.

From President Pezeshkian, there was an explanation of Iran’s position, including future prospects.

We agreed to continue close communication going forward.

In this instance, first, one Japanese-related vessel was able to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz.

In that process, I myself directly appealed to President Pezeshkian, and, centered on Foreign Minister Motegi, we have conducted various adjustments with the Iranian side, including our embassy on the ground.

Even now, many Japanese-related vessels, including those carrying Japanese nationals, remain in the Persian Gulf.

The government will continue to actively pursue all diplomatic efforts and adjustments to realize the earliest possible passage through the Strait of Hormuz for all these vessels, including those carrying Japanese nationals.
