The head of Russia’s state nuclear corporation, Alexei Likhachev, has said Moscow is prepared to pull its staff out of Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant if need be.
– “We are keeping our finger on the pulse and, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence, we will be ready to carry out evacuation measures if necessary,” Likhachev said.
– The last US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities in June did not target Bushehr, where Putin has said hundreds of Russians are working.
– Likhachev has warned that any attack on the site could cause a catastrophe comparable to the 1986 Chornobyl nuclear disaster in Ukraine.
