Lebanon has said that relations with Iran must be conducted through the country’s legitimate state institutions rather than with individual groups or factions.
– The foreign ministry welcomed Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s desire to establish good relations with the government in Beirut but stressed that respect for sovereignty must be reciprocal.
– Rationality in relations between states requires dealing first with states through their constitutional and legitimate institutions, not with parties or factions within them,” the ministry said in a statement.
