President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Iran will support Hamas’s position in ongoing negotiations over Gaza, local media reports say.
– “Iran will support every measure, initiative and decision that Palestinian leaders take in the negotiation process,” Pezeshkian told Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas’s political bureau, in a phone call.
– Last week, Trump said Hamas had agreed to disarm following negotiations with his Board of Peace along with Egypt, Qatar and Turkiye.
– While Israel says it will not withdraw until Hamas completely disarms, the Palestinian group says it will disarm only when Israeli forces withdraw.
– On Tuesday, in his first public comments on the deal, Netanyahu said Israel had not agreed to Trump’s plan.
