OIC Participates in the 98th Session of the Conference of Liaison Officers of the Regional Offices for the Boycott of Israel

H.E. Ambassador Dawas Dawas, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Al-Quds Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), participated in the 98th Session of the Conference of Liaison Officers of the Regional Offices for the Boycott of Israel, convened by the League of Arab States with the participation of representatives of Arab States and the relevant bodies responsible for monitoring the implementation of boycott resolutions.
In his statement, Ambassador Dawas underscored the significance of convening the Conference at a time when the Palestinian cause is facing exceptionally grave challenges. He stressed the imperative of strengthening Arab-Islamic coordination and unifying efforts to confront Israeli occupation policies, particularly illegal settlement activities and measures aimed at altering the demographic and geographic character of the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
He further highlighted the seriousness of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the humanitarian catastrophe it has caused, alongside the escalating violations in the occupied West Bank, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif, through military incursions, arbitrary arrests, house demolitions, land confiscation, and the expansion of illegal settlements. He affirmed that these practices constitute flagrant violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
Ambassador Dawas noted that the OIC welcomes the initiatives undertaken by a number of European countries, notably Belgium, the Netherlands, and Ireland, to prohibit commercial dealings with products originating from illegal Israeli settlements. He stated that these measures reflect the growing international awareness of the legal, ethical, and economic risks associated with engagement with the illegal settlement enterprise, represent a practical application of the principles of international law, and contribute to enhancing accountability by depriving settlement activities of the resources that facilitate their expansion and continuation. He also emphasized the importance of governments and economic institutions reviewing their relations with entities involved in supporting the colonial settlement enterprise and its associated structures.
Ambassador Dawas commended the efforts of the Arab Boycott Office of the League of Arab States and its role in monitoring the implementation of boycott resolutions and promoting cooperation among Member States. He reaffirmed the importance of sustaining joint action in support of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to establish their independent State on the basis of the 4 June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
