High-Level Delegation from the OIC General Secretariat and Member States Begins Official Visit to the People’s Republic of China

At the gracious invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, and within the framework of strengthening mechanisms for comprehensive dialogue and constructive engagement between the two sides, a high-level delegation comprising ambassadors and representatives of twenty OIC Member States, alongside a delegation from the General Secretariat, began an official visit to the People’s Republic of China, running from 3 to 8 September 2026.
The delegation of Member States is headed by H.E. Ambassador Dya-Eddine Said Bamakhrama, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of a number of Permanent Representatives and representatives of the three geographical groups of the Organization. The General Secretariat is represented by a delegation headed by Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Dobeay, Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs.
The delegation began its official programme with a visit to Shanghai, where its members held a series of fruitful meetings with senior local officials. Discussions focused on mechanisms for supporting the development partnership and on learning from China’s pioneering experiences in the technological, health and institutional sectors. The programme also included a visit to the historic Shanghai Mosque and an opportunity to learn about its heritage and historical significance.
The visit will continue in the coming days with field visits and official meetings in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, focusing on the region’s development experience and the social conditions of its Muslim population. The programme will also include expanded discussions with senior officials of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local authorities, contributing to strengthening mutual understanding and deepening institutional cooperation across various areas of common interest.
