The Secretary-General Receives Letter from Palestinian Foreign Minister and Discusses Cooperation with Permanent Representative

His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, received today at the General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Shibli, Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the Organization.
During the meeting, the Permanent Representative presented His Excellency the Secretary-General with a letter addressed to him by Her Excellency the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, concerning the intention of some countries to open embassies in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem), as well as the restrictions imposed by Israel on the diplomatic missions of some countries in the Holy City.
The two sides reviewed at length the latest developments in the Palestinian cause.
They emphasized the need to intensify coordination and unify efforts, and to transform Islamic solidarity into effective collective action that supports the Palestinian people and safeguards their legitimate rights.
