The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Velasco, led a joint message to the media with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Carlos Ramiro Martínez.
In his message, the head of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico highlighted the five agreed pillars of the 2027 binational plan: shared security, border and connectivity, human mobility with dignity, development with opportunities, and technical and scientific cooperation. Specifically, he noted the upcoming signing of the new Memorandum of Understanding of the Mexico-Guatemala High-Level Security Group (GANSEG). He also emphasized the progress of the Juntos por el Bienestar program and the benefits of the second phase of Sembrando Vida in Guatemala, which will help more than 10,000 people.
Velasco Álvarez also highlighted the excellent bilateral ties we share: “Our countries continue walking together, building bridges of cooperation, friendship, and solidarity for the benefit of our peoples and the region we share.”
Soon, our countries will hold the plenary meeting of the Mexico-Guatemala Binational Commission, while the Mexican foreign minister will visit the neighboring country to reciprocate the gesture of friendship from his counterpart.
