US First Lady Melania Trump said she considers the humanitarian mission in the city of Alyoshki, Kherson Region, to be successful and expressed her gratitude to Russia.
– “The ceasefire concludes. The mission was a success <…>. On behalf of America, I commend to Russia and Ukraine for their leadership and cooperation surrounding the Oleshky (Alyoshki – TASS) ceasefire,” she wrote on Sunday on the social media platform X.
– “I hope that Oleshky serves as a foundation for lasting peace between both nations. The ceasefire began on October 27, 2026, and continued until November 1, 2026, as planned,” she added.
– Earlier, Russia and Ukraine, with the assistance of the US First Lady, agreed to a ceasefire in Alyoshki, Kherson Region, to ensure the conduct of a humanitarian operation. The Russian Armed Forces introduced a regime of silence in the Kherson direction from 04:00 a.m. Moscow time on October 27 in connection with preparations for the humanitarian operation in the city. On October 30, the humanitarian mission was carried out: residents were distributed several dozen tons of humanitarian aid–food, hygiene products, generator fuel, and other necessary items, Russian Human Rights Ombudswoman Yana Lantratova said. Also, everyone who expressed a desire was able to leave without hindrance both to other regions of Russia and to Ukraine.
– On September 21, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the humanitarian situation in Alyoshki critical. It was impossible to bring either food or medicines into the city due to shelling and drone attacks from Kiev.
