At the Russia-ASEAN Business Forum today, I quoted the words of the great Tatarstan poet, Abdullah Tukay, that “only in serving the people do I admit true happiness.” This message reminds us that the primary goal of every policy and economic cooperation is to enhance the well-being of the people.

The world now faces various challenges, from geopolitical uncertainties and supply chain disruptions to increasingly fierce technological competition. In this situation, we need to strengthen cooperation, not act alone.

ASEAN has proven itself as one of the most dynamic and resilient economic regions, grounded in openness, inclusivity, and cooperation.

In the same spirit, ASEAN and Russia have great potential to expand cooperation in strategic areas such as food security, energy, digital technology, education, and talent development.

I also welcome the development of the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Programme on Trade and Investment Cooperation 2026–2035, which will strengthen trade relations, investment, and economic cooperation between the two sides.

ASEAN will continue to uphold an open, fair trading system guided by mutually agreed rules. In an increasingly uncertain world, economic resilience must be strengthened without sacrificing the spirit of cooperation.

All understandings reached must be translated into actions that generate opportunities, create prosperity, and bring real benefits to the people.
