President Joseph Aoun met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and presented to her the Lebanese-Italian relations and ways to develop them in all fields. President Aoun thanked President Meloni for the support that Italy provides to Lebanon at various levels, and discussed with her the general situation in Lebanon in general and in the south in particular, in light of the continuation of Israeli aggressions and the necessity of pressuring Israel to commit to implementing the framework agreement reached in the Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations in Washington. President Aoun also thanked the Italian Prime Minister for her country’s hosting of the tripartite negotiations and for the Italian role in consolidating security and stability in the south. The discussion addressed the post-period after the end of the operational term of the international forces (UNIFIL) in Lebanon, and the discussion also covered the situation in the region.

President Aoun had previously met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and presented to him the Lebanese-Italian relations in addition to the situation in the region. The Lebanese Ambassador to Italy, Mrs. Carla Jizar, participated in both meetings.
