Today, Parliament has definitively approved the nuclear energy law.
After nearly forty years, Italy returns to having a regulatory framework for producing nuclear energy. A courageous and sensible choice.
Today we import electricity produced by nuclear power plants in neighboring countries, but we cannot produce it ourselves. This law serves to change things.
What it means for families and businesses:
- Greater energy security: less dependence on abroad and less exposure to international crises that we’ve paid for in our bills.
- Stable and low-emission energy, which works alongside all the others, starting with renewables.
- A concrete response to the growing demand for electricity from data centers and artificial intelligence.
We’re talking about next-generation technologies, not old power plants.
Now the Government will write the implementing regulations on safety, authorizations, waste management, and relations with local communities.
It was a commitment made to Italians. Another commitment we’ve kept 🇮🇹
