Today we celebrate the eightieth anniversary of the Italian Republic. A milestone that represents not only a historical date, but tells the story of the path that Italians have known how to build together: with tales of sacrifice, courage, unity, solidarity, and commitment, generation after generation.
Because I am certain that it is the great stories, but also—and perhaps above all—the small daily choices that have made Italy the extraordinary Nation it is today.
Eighty years of Republic, of freedom, and of participation make us proud and grateful toward those who came before us and contributed to laying the foundations of our national community. But, at the same time, they remind us of the responsibility that each of us has in safeguarding and strengthening this heritage every day, in service to the Fatherland and to future generations.
