Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ali Falih Al-Zaidi, chaired an emergency meeting today, Saturday, to discuss security developments in the region.
His Excellency emphasized during the meeting the prevention of any violations or threats emanating from Iraqi territory toward neighboring countries, the formation of a joint security committee to confront challenges, and directed the establishment of deterrent mechanisms to prevent the recurrence of such incidents or any potential breaches.
He also instructed Iraqi security agencies to enforce the law, enhance security and stability, and fulfill their responsibilities in protecting sovereignty and fostering good neighborly relations.
The meeting affirmed the readiness of the armed forces to thwart any attempts targeting neighboring countries within our regional environment and renewed its steadfast commitment to not allowing Iraqi territory to be used as a launchpad or passage for aggression against brotherly and friendly countries, within the framework of its responsibility to preserve national sovereignty and respect the principles of good neighborly relations and international law.
