Iran’s parliament speaker and China envoy Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has praised China’s call for a new security architecture in the Middle East.
– China’s President Xi Jinping made the proposal on a rare state visit to Egypt on Wednesday, where he stated Beijing’s readiness to support security arrangements that shun “external interference”.
– Xi said such an arrangement should be based on the UN Charter and international law.
– “China’s emphasis on fostering common security reflects a principle Iran has long championed,” Ghalibaf said in a statement on X, adding that the region should take matters into its “own hands”.
