Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Sunday that two ships were involved in an “accident” after attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz via an “unsafe route,” while two other vessels abandoned that route, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
– The IRGC said the four vessels had ignored Iranian warnings and acted with US backing.
– “Vessels that are influenced by the words of the Americans and enter unsafe routes will certainly face accidents,” the IRGC warned in a statement.
– The US and Iran have intensified attacks since an interim ceasefire deal signed a month ago fell apart last week, raising the possibility of a return to all-out war.
– The renewed violence was initially sparked by Iranian attacks on ships in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
