Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, says Tehran remains ready for “any scenario” while maintaining the possibility of diplomacy.

– “We have never walked away from the negotiating table or closed the door to diplomacy,” Baghaei told the German public broadcaster ARD, according to the Iranian state-owned Press TV. “At the same time, we have been fully prepared to defend our territory. So, yes, messages are being conveyed through mediators.”

– Baghaei said Washington was insisting on unilateral demands, including calls for Iran’s “complete surrender”. But “this is what no Iranian will accept,” he said.

– Baghaei also criticised European countries for siding with the US rather than playing an “independent role” in the conflict.

– He added that the Strait of Hormuz was not safe because “because the US and Israel are using the entire region to carry out military aggression” against Iran. “As long as this situation persists, we have no choice but to take the necessary measures to protect our territorial integrity, national security, and people,” he said.
