Germany threw its support Wednesday behind International Criminal Court (ICC) President Tomoko Akane after the United States imposed sanctions against the judge, and called for the institution to be protected.
– “We stand with the International Criminal Court and also its President, Tomoko Akane,” a foreign ministry spokesman said. “It is of central importance to defend and protect the International Criminal Court as an independent institution.”
