The EU presidency has said it will convene a meeting today of COREPAR, the Committee of Permanent Representatives to the EU, to discuss the global energy situation. EU ⁠ambassadors ⁠will meet at 13:30 ⁠GMT, the Irish Presidency of the EU ‌said, according to a Reuters report.

– “The diesel market is currently very tight, leading to high prices for consumers ⁠across the world,” a spokesperson ‌for the Presidency said. “The Presidency is committed to maintaining close ⁠collaboration and ⁠coordination with all ⁠member states and the Commission.”

– Earlier, European Commission ‌spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen said the ⁠EU “fully rejects” a threat made by the ⁠US to ban diesel exports ⁠if Europe did not release more of its fuel stocks.

– On Thursday, President Trump said the US could ask European countries to release diesel reserves to rein in rising diesel prices due to the war on Iran.
