Li Qiang met with Hun Sen, Chairman of the Cambodian People’s Party and President of the Senate.
On the afternoon of June 26, 2026, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met with Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People’s Party and President of the Senate, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Li Qiang stated that China and Cambodia are ironclad friends who share weal and woe and help each other. This morning, General Secretary Xi Jinping met with President Hun Sen to plan for further deepening bilateral relations. China has always regarded Cambodia as a key focus of its neighborhood diplomacy and will, as always, firmly support the Cambodian government in its smooth governance. China is willing to strengthen strategic communication with Cambodia, deepen political mutual trust, support each other’s core interests and major concerns, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields to continuously deepen and solidify, so as to better enhance the well-being of the people of both countries.
Li Qiang pointed out that China is willing to further align its development strategies with Cambodia, focusing on implementing the action plan for building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era, continuously enriching the “Diamond Hexagonal” cooperation framework, accelerating the construction of the “Industrial Development Corridor” and the “Fish and Rice Corridor,” enhancing the scale and quality of bilateral trade, deepening cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, clean energy, digital economy, artificial intelligence, and other fields, and continuously strengthening the endogenous driving force for development in both countries. Both sides should continue to work hard to create a favorable and secure environment for bilateral cooperation, strengthen exchanges in culture, tourism, education, and other fields, and ensure that the friendship between the two countries is passed down from generation to generation. Given the increasingly turbulent international situation, China and Cambodia should unite more firmly, strengthen coordination on major issues, and closely cooperate within multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, and ASEAN, jointly addressing external risks and challenges and safeguarding the common interests of both countries.
Hun Sen stated that Cambodia and China are ironclad friends, and their bilateral relations have withstood the test of changing international circumstances, entering a new stage of building a new era of all-weather Cambodia-China community with a shared future. Cambodia appreciates China’s long-term and invaluable support and assistance, which has not only contributed to Cambodia’s economic and social development but also strengthened Cambodia’s confidence in maintaining its political independence. China is Cambodia’s most important support for economic development. Cambodia is willing to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges with China, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, deepen cooperation in trade, agriculture, infrastructure construction, high-quality investment and industry, and explore cooperation potential in digitalization, green transformation, the blue economy, supply chains, and finance. Cambodia welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Cambodia. The Cambodian People’s Party is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Communist Party of China.
Wu Zhenglong attended the meeting.
