Wang Yi said that a sudden glacier collapse in the border area of Nepal triggered severe mudslides, causing heavy casualties and leaving many people missing in both #China and #Nepal. It is the most severe cross-border disaster between the two countries in recent years. The complexity and difficulty of the relief work are unprecedented.

While urgently carrying out emergency rescue and self-recovery efforts, China extended a helping hand at the earliest moment to support Nepal in its emergency disaster response. A package of assistance from China to Nepal is being implemented, including urgent cash assistance and humanitarian aid. China’s disaster relief supplies will arrive in Kathmandu soon.

China and Nepal are a community connected by mountains and rivers and sharing a common future. Faced with the disaster, the two countries need to stand firmly together, join hands in response, overcome difficulties in solidarity and demonstrate the traditional friendship across the Himalayas through concrete actions.
