Security in the Baltic Sea, the North Atlantic, and the Arctic is increasingly interconnected. My Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna and I have convened the very first ministerial meeting between Canada and the eight Nordic and Baltic countries to deepen our cooperation in the areas of the defense industry, maritime security, critical infrastructure, and economic resilience.
We remain united in our support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as in our efforts to press Russia to end its aggression. Canada and the Nordic and Baltic countries will strengthen their coordination to protect the Euro-Atlantic region and defend the international law that underpins our collective security.
