Wang Yi spoke by phone with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar.

On the evening of May 12, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, spoke by phone with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar.

Dar briefed the delegation on the recent progress of Pakistan’s mediation in talks between Iran and the United States, thanked China for its support of Pakistan’s efforts to promote the talks, and expressed his hope to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China to jointly play a positive role in maintaining regional peace and stability.

Wang Yi reiterated China’s principled position, appreciating Pakistan’s efforts in facilitating the US-Iran negotiations and extending the temporary ceasefire. He expressed hope that Pakistan would maintain its confidence, intensify its mediation efforts, and contribute to a proper resolution of the Strait of Hormuz opening issue and the early restoration of regional peace, which is also the common aspiration of the international community. China will continue to support Pakistan’s mediation efforts and make its own contributions to this end.

Wang Yi stated that in a few days, China and Pakistan will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Both sides should work together to ensure the success of commemorative activities, maintain close high-level exchanges, strengthen strategic communication, consolidate the ironclad friendship, promote pragmatic cooperation, better safeguard each other’s core interests and the common interests of China and Pakistan, and elevate the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership to a new level. Faced with a world fraught with change and uncertainty, both sides should voice their just opinions on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and jointly defend multilateralism.

Dar stated that Pakistan is willing to take the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to deepen all-round cooperation with China, strengthen multilateral collaboration, and promote new development in the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China.
