More than 20 aircraft and helicopter crews of the Russian Baltic Fleet’s naval aviation have started a scheduled tactical air exercise in the Kaliningrad Region, the fleet’s press service reported.
– “More than 20 crews of Su-24, Su-30SM, Su-30SM2 aircraft, Mi-24 and Mi-8 attack and military transport helicopters, as well as Ka-27 ship-based helicopters and An-26 military transport aircraft of the Baltic Fleet’s naval aviation, are taking part in the exercise,” the fleet stated.
– The Su-24 and Su-30SM crews will conduct bombing on a target range and fire rockets at coastal targets. Su-30SM2 fighters will practice intercepting simulated aircraft violating the borders of the Kaliningrad Region, as well as simulated electronic launches against mock enemy’s cruise missiles and strategic bombers. In parallel with the bomber and fighter aircraft, helicopter crews will carry out missions to search for and track submarines, provide air support to coastal troops, and transport and deploy tactical assault forces.
– In total, more than 15 aircraft and helicopters and over 500 personnel of the air force formation are participating in the maneuvers. About 50 combat training sorties are planned.
