The Arab Group coalition at the UN Security Council has denounced Israel for its “incursions and repeated attacks” in Syria, calling on Israeli forces to immediately withdraw from all Syrian territory, including the occupied Golan Heights.
– Representing the Arab Group at the Security Council, Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Abdulaziz al-Wasel said Israeli attacks and incursions into Syria constitute “a flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
– Israel has occupied most of Syria’s Golan Heights since the June 1967 War and expanded its occupation after the fall of longtime Syrian ruler Bashar al-Assad in late 2024.
– Israeli forces have also carried out air strikes in Syria since al-Assad’s ouster, killing civilians and targeting military sites, equipment and ammunition.
