The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, noted the statement issued by the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf expressing support for Lebanon and its people in confronting the current challenges, which reflects the depth of the fraternal and historical ties that unite Lebanon with the Council’s member states.

President Aoun commended the reaffirmation by the Council’s member states of the importance of preserving Lebanon’s security, stability, and territorial unity, as well as their commitment to supporting the path of reforms and strengthening state institutions, in a manner that meets the aspirations of the Lebanese for a strong, capable, and just state.

He also expressed his appreciation for the Council’s call to extend the sovereignty of the Lebanese state over its entire territory and to confine arms to the hands of legitimate institutions, in harmony with the Lebanese Constitution and relevant international resolutions, foremost among them UN Security Council Resolution 1701, as well as the resolutions issued by the Lebanese government in this regard.

President Aoun expressed profound gratitude for the readiness of the Arab Gulf states to continue providing humanitarian and developmental support to Lebanon, which contributes to alleviating economic burdens and improving the living conditions of the Lebanese people. He affirmed that Lebanon will remain committed to maintaining the best relations with its sister Arab states, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council states, and to developing them across various fields, in service of shared interests and to enhance stability in the region.
