It was a pleasure to meet with H.E. Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, in Seoul. His visit marks the first by a Kuwaiti Foreign Minister since 2007. I was very pleased to meet His Excellency in person for the first time after our phone conversation in March, shortly after he took office in February.
During my meeting with H.E. Minister Jarrah, we discussed closer Korea-Kuwait cooperation to ensure a stable energy supply amid global supply chains disruptions caused by the conflicts in the Middle East. We also agreed to expand Korean companies’ participation in Kuwait’s infrastructure projects, and broaden cooperation into new areas, including AI and investment.
In particular, I noted that we plan to send a joint public-private delegation to Kuwait to identify new opportunities for G2G infrastructure cooperation, a shared area of interest. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to actively support Korean companies in finding new business opportunities and expanding their presence in Kuwait and other Middle Eastern markets.
