US President Donald Trump says Washington has made “a lot of progress” with Iran and that Tehran wants an agreement, while claiming American forces recently destroyed an Iranian air defence system.
– Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said: “We’re dealing with them now. They want to make a deal.”
– “We’ve made a lot of progress with Iran,” he added, without providing details.
– Trump also rejected describing the confrontation as a war, saying the US had imposed what he called “the greatest blockade in military history” against Tehran.
– “We’re not fighting,” he said, contrasting the situation with the war between Russia and Ukraine and claiming that no US personnel had been killed in seven months.
– However, Trump acknowledged that US forces had carried out what he described as minor strikes against Iranian military equipment.
– “They built a little bit of an anti-aircraft device, and we knocked it out in about 15 minutes, maybe five,” he said, without specifying when or where the attack took place.
– Trump also claimed Iran’s navy had been destroyed and that the country was experiencing inflation of 300 percent.
