Major-General Ali Abdollahi, Iran’s armed forces chief of staff and commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, has said Iranian forces will not allow US military vessels to enter the Gulf “under any circumstances”.
– In remarks carried by Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, he claimed Iranian forces had rendered the US Navy ineffective, leaving it unable to approach waters surrounding the Gulf or Iran’s territorial waters.
– Abdollahi also challenged President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that US strikes had destroyed Iran’s nuclear facilities.
– “If you have destroyed everything, then what is the meaning of repeating these delusional claims?” he asked.
– “If you are certain that you have destroyed all of Iran’s military facilities and capabilities, then why do your rusty warships, vessels and cowardly military forces not dare approach the Strait of Hormuz?”
– He said Iran’s strategy was to make the US and Israel sink deeper into what he described as a quagmire of their own making as the confrontation continued.
