Prior to the opening of the preparatory meeting for the International Conference in Support of the Army and Internal Security Forces at the “Invalides” Palace in Paris, a trilateral meeting was held that included the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The trilateral meeting focused on mechanisms for enhancing the level of cooperation and coordination in areas of common interest. The discussions also addressed the importance of France hosting the new round of the “Aqaba Meetings” initiative, which explores ways to support the Lebanese Army to enable it to carry out its missions in safeguarding the security and safety of the Lebanese people, in collaboration with the Internal Security Forces.
The meeting also touched on the dangerous regional escalation, with the three leaders emphasizing the necessity of intensifying international efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable de-escalation that restores stability to the region. The discussions covered all developments in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
During the meeting, President Aoun stressed the importance of the interconnectedness of regional security and called for the formulation of a shared regional security strategy through joint energy projects, as well as economic, security, and political cooperation.
