The Bahraini government says commercial vessels moving through the Strait of Hormuz must be allowed without fees or permits.
– In a statement, the Bahraini government said any proposal on navigation in the crucial strait must involve the participation of all Gulf Cooperation Council states.
– “Any arrangement regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz must be based on the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and endorsed by the International Maritime Organization,” it said, also condemning Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia.
– Bahrain has said it will not participate in an Iran planned meeting on control over the Strait of Hormuz that was planned for Monday in Oman but was cancelled. Bahrain has borne the brunt of Iranian attacks since the US and Israel launched the war on Iran in February.
