Met with João Paulo Capobianco, Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Federative Republic of Brazil. He is participating in the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification as the head of the Brazilian delegation.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that consensus and close cooperation are crucial for bringing the Parties’ positions closer on the issues under discussion within the framework of COP17, advancing negotiations, and reaching mutually acceptable solutions.
Minister João Paulo Capobianco expressed his commitment to working to support the consideration of the Parties’ positions during the negotiations, forming a common understanding, and achieving mutually acceptable outcomes.
The two countries also exchanged good practices and discussed opportunities to strengthen future cooperation in areas such as reducing land degradation, restoring degraded ecosystems, strengthening sustainable land management, and expanding nature-based solutions.
