Joseph Aoun has met General Joseph Clearfield, chair of the Cessation of Hostilities Supervisory Committee, in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon Michelle Sison.
– The committee was established in November 2024 to monitor the ceasefire, verify violations and provide direct deconfliction between the Lebanese and Israeli militaries.
– However, the meeting comes amid repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire. As we reported earlier, explosions were heard across southern Lebanon overnight, with the state-run National News Agency saying that Israel carried out a “massive” bombing in the village of Haddatha in the Bint Jbeil district.
– Israeli attacks in the Nabatieh area yesterday also killed a man, while separate attacks targeted an ambulance and firefighters responding to a fire. Israel also continues to occupy parts of southern Lebanon despite the ceasefire agreement requiring the withdrawal of its forces.
