UN Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Ramiz Alakbarov warned that the occupied West Bank is “at the breaking point”, saying 76 Palestinians, including 18 minors, have been killed there this year.
– He said 3,800 Palestinians, nearly half of them children, have been displaced by Israeli settler violence, and demolitions and evictions at the hands of Israeli authorities, with the UN documenting more than 1,430 settler attacks affecting some 260 Palestinian communities.
– UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Hannan Sulieman said 174 Palestinian children were killed in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, between January 2024 and July 2026, while more than 1,500 were injured. She said 355 Palestinian children are being held in Israeli military detention, the highest number in eight years.
– Sulieman urged the UN Security Council to protect children, adding: “Children in the West Bank have the same rights as children everywhere — to live, to learn, to be protected and to imagine a future beyond violence and fear.”
