A connection between the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and the French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the general situation in Lebanon and the region was discussed in light of recent developments.
President Aoun briefed his French counterpart on the outcomes of his visit to the United States and the talks he held with U.S. President Donald Trump and a number of American officials, which addressed the situation in Lebanon, the post-agreement phase regarding the framework formula, and the course of implementing the points contained therein.
The discussion also touched on the situation in the south in light of the ongoing Israeli attacks on a number of southern villages and towns, the necessity of putting an end to them, and the commitment to a cessation of hostilities.
The two presidents reviewed the phase following the conclusion of the operations of the international forces in the south, “UNIFIL,” and the importance of international follow-up to the stability of the situation there.
Presidents Aoun and Macron agreed to maintain communication between them to follow up on developments.
