In the context of the launch of the general census process of the Congolese population, the President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, met on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the African Union Headquarters, with Mr. Alain Akpadji, Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
At the end of this audience, the Head of State received assurances from UNFPA, particularly regarding support through methods for piloting general censuses of population and housing under very difficult conditions.
“We will use demographic intelligence, where a number of mechanisms responding to new information and communication technologies are employed so that data collection is truly comprehensive,” Mr. Alain Akpadji took care to reassure.
Present at this audience, the State Minister in charge of Planning and coordination of development aid, Guylain Nyembo, announced that population sensitization begins this Wednesday, July 15, and the census for the entire national territory will begin next August and will extend until 2027.
