Delivered India’s statement at Adoption of the Ninth Review of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in the UN today. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, “Terror anywhere threatens peace everywhere”
Made the following points:
➡️ Called for adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT).
➡️ India has been a victim of cross-border terrorism. This experience has shaped India’s approach if zero-tolerance for terrorism.
➡️ Highlighted India’s contributions: the Delhi Declaration on terrorism & emerging technologies, now shaping global guidelines.
➡️ India has worked to strengthen the global focus on terror financing.
➡️ India stands ready to work with all Member States to strengthen the global counter-terrorism architecture
➡️ India works closely with UNOCT and other UN Compact entities as well as financially contributes to priority areas for capacity building projects.
➡️India supports a more streamlined and more precise resolution while maintaining the balance across the four pillars of the GCTS.
