Iran’s acting defence minister has reiterated that the country’s military capabilities are a “red line” and will not be discussed during negotiations with the US.
– “The Islamic Republic’s defense, missile, and drone capabilities are a red line for our national security,” Majid Ebn al-Reza said.
– “They are not negotiable—now or in the future,” he added.
– Al-Reza also said that Iran’s “missile and drone programmes will continue to advance”.
– Iran is believed to have used thousands of drones during the war, launching them at its Gulf neighbours. The unmanned aircraft are relatively cheap for Tehran to mass-produce and can overwhelm air defence systems when deployed in large numbers. Intercepting them has also proved costly, with the US using missiles worth more than $1 million dollars to shoot down a single drone.
