The President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, received Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India.

President U. Khürelsükh expressed that Mongolia regards India as our “third neighbor” and a reliable partner in the region, and voiced his satisfaction that the Strategic Partnership relations between the two countries are steadily expanding and developing across all sectors.

He noted that the state visit to India last year, on the occasion of the historic 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, had played a crucial role in enriching the Strategic Partnership with broader content and elevating it to a new stage.

He expressed gratitude for the consistent support provided by the Government of India in the implementation of joint projects such as the Oil Refinery, which has become a symbol of the relations and cooperation between the two countries, the India-Mongolia Friendship General Education School, the Information Technology, Communications, and Outsourcing Center, and others.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted that the relations and cooperation between the two countries are developing dynamically under the leadership of the heads of state of both nations, and expressed his commitment to further expanding them going forward.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed that developing new transport and logistics networks and connectivity is of crucial importance in expanding trade and economic cooperation and diversifying the structure of trade.

They also exchanged views on intensifying cooperation in the agricultural sector, launching new initiatives in the fields of education, culture, and tourism, and implementing joint programs.

The two countries established diplomatic relations on December 24, 1955. Our country opened its Embassy in New Delhi in 1956, and India opened its Embassy in Ulaanbaatar in 1971.
