Statement | Qatar Announces Launch of Lake Lucerne Summit and First Meeting of High-Level Committee with Participation of the United States, Iran, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

The State of Qatar, in its capacity as mediator, announces the launch of the Lake Lucerne Summit proceedings and the first meeting of the High-Level Committee with the participation of representatives from the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the two mediating states, the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, expressing its aspiration that these meetings will lead to the conclusion of a comprehensive and permanent agreement addressing all aspects covered in the Memorandum of Understanding.

Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that specialized technical and expert groups have been formed to negotiate the terms of the final agreement, which will cover all aspects of the Memorandum of Understanding. Additionally, follow-up groups have been established to oversee the implementation of the Memorandum, monitor progress achieved, and work toward the conclusion of the final agreement. This reflects the commitment of all parties to moving forward in the negotiation process in good faith, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable agreement.

He affirmed that the State of Qatar will continue, as one of the mediating states, to work with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and all concerned parties to create a positive environment that enables the negotiations to achieve their objectives, based on its firm belief that dialogue and diplomacy represent the optimal path for addressing conflicts and resolving disputes.

The Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar’s appreciation for the important role played by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as a partner and mediator in this process, commending its close cooperation and efforts in supporting the negotiation process. He also expressed Qatar’s appreciation for the commitment of the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran to diplomatic solutions, as well as for the support provided by the fraternal sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the fraternal sisterly Republic of Turkey, the fraternal sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, the fraternal sisterly State of the United Arab Emirates, and all other brotherly and friendly states, which have contributed to creating the favorable conditions to advance this process forward.

Dr. Al-Ansari reiterated the State of Qatar’s full support for all efforts aimed at succeeding in the negotiations and reaching a final agreement that enhances sustainable peace, security, stability, and prosperity in the region.
